Employers rank 401(k) / 403(b) employee education their greatest concern according to a recent Plan Sponsor article. But a mere 36% of employees report that education is regular and customized.

Lovejoy Associates offers the following educational services for employers

  1. Periodic enrollment meetings for new and non-participating employees in group and/or individual sessions
  2. On-going participant education that is directed to employer concerns and objectives, i.e. increasing participation and deferral rates, as well as providing the employee with a general understanding of the concepts of dollar cost averaging, asset allocation, and diversification.
  3. On-going participant education that is tailored according to specific demographics, i.e. employees over 50, female employees, etc. Investment knowledge, retirement goals, and life values can be distinctly different among groups of employees, and education is most valuable when it is focused.
  4. Educational sessions for human resource managers and other department managers: providing updates of recent IRS, EGTRRA, and ERISA regulations that may impact their plans, explaining in detail the features of their plans, giving them an investment overview, getting to the bottom of thorny questions they may have, and giving them language and approaches that will strengthen their ability to better assist their employees, in short making their job easier.

Quality retirement plan education can result in a more valuable plan for the employer, more satisfied and loyal employees, and a more effective human resource department.
